VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was injured during an early morning shooting in Vicksburg.

Police said the shooting happened just after 1:15 a.m. on Friday, June 7 in he 4100 block of Washington Street.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a wrecked vehicle. The victim, 25-year-old Devontay Knight, was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said Knight was taken to Merit Health River Region and later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson for further evaluation and treatment.

Police said Knight is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
