Pike County woman indicted for SNAP fraud

PIKE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Pike County woman was arrested and indicted for SNAP fraud.

According to officials with the Investigations Division of the Mississippi Department of Human Service (MDHS), Shantay Vega received $26,160 in SNAP benefits by not reporting household income and composition accurately to the agency.

The Pike County District Attorney secured an indictment on May 18, 2024, and Vega later turned herself in to MDHS and Pike County officials on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
