LINCOLN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A passenger died after a crash on Interstate 55 in Lincoln County.

The crash happened just before 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 6.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2003 Chevrolet Express Van was traveling north on I-55 when it collided with a concrete barrier after the left-rear wheel became detached.

The passenger, 51-year-old Alfonso E. Muraira, of Matamoros, Mexico, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
