HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Hinds County detainee has died after he suffered a major medical emergency, according to Sheriff Tyree Jones.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 9 at the Hinds County Detention Center.
Jones said Cleveland Roosevelt Allison, 30, was transported to Merit Health where he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival. The sheriff said Allison’s cause of death is unknown at this time and foul play is not suspected.
Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) will investigate Allison’s death. The autopsy results are pending.
Jones said Allison had been detained at the jail since April 13, 2024, on a 2019 indictment for forgery.
