JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The family of a woman, who was killed two years ago in South Jackson, held a balloon release to honor her on Tuesday, June 11.

Brianna Winters was shot and killed while sitting inside her vehicle at the Valero gas station on Cooper Road.

Despite Jackson police naming a suspect in the case, there has been no trial or a conviction. The family said they’re still fighting to receive justice for Winters.

“We wanted to use this opportunity to spotlight her legacy and her memory. This family has been toiling with seeking justice for the last two years. Two years ago, to the day, the mayor of the City of Jackson stood here. He was not here today. The police chief of the City of Jackson was here two years ago, but he was not here today. And so, we want to make sure that we use all of our resources to ensure that the victims of crime receive the justice that they deserve,” said the family’s attorney, Warren Martin, Jr.

Corinthian Roberson was arrested in June 2022 in connection to the homicide.
