Man charged after multiple drugs, guns found in Jackson home

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A 38-year-old man was arrested in Jackson after investigators found multiple drugs and firearms during a search.

Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), assisted by Capitol police, executed a search warrant at a home on Tuesday, June 11. Investigators said Tarus Whitfield was arrested.

During the search, agents said they seized multiple drugs in varying quantities, including methamphetamine, marijuana, crack and powder cocaine, oxycodone, morphine, Xanax, and over two dozen unidentified pills. Agents said they also found two shotguns, two rifles (one with a switch), and one Glock pistol with a switch.

Whitfield was charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of powder cocaine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of crack cocaine while in possession of a firearm, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and possession of morphine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.

Agents said more arrests are anticipated in this case.
