LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Lamar County deputies arrested a 47-year-old man after he allegedly fired shots at them.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, June 28.

Lamar County deputies said they responded to a disturbance call in the 4800 block of Old Highway 11 in Oak Grove. They said the suspect, Jeb Travis Clearman, was in the front yard of his home, yelling profanities and disturbing his neighbors.

Investigators said Clearman had gotten into a fight with another person at a convenience store close to his home earlier in the evening. Deputies told him to go back inside his home, which he did, and they left the scene.

According to authorities, the deputies were called back to the area for a second time. They said Clearman was on the back porch, yelling profanities at the deputies. Investigators said he fired a weapon toward the deputies, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
