PETAL, Miss. (WHLT) – Petal police said a man was killed after he broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend.
The incident happened just before 3:15 a.m. on Friday, July 5 at a home on West 10th Avenue in Petal.
Police said they received a call from a woman stating that her ex-boyfriend was banging on her door. Soon afterwards, investigators said the man forced his way into the home.
Petal Police Chief Matthew Hiatt said another adult male inside the home shot the woman’s ex-boyfriend. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem identified the deceased as 27-year-old Burnell Gould, of Hattiesburg.
Hiatt said no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
