JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (July 12-14) around Mississippi.

Central Mississippi

Fun Friday – Jackson – Friday

  • Explore the world of dinosaur defense methods with fun games and activities!

Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Friday

  • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream!

Al’s Sandwich Shop at Hal & Mal’s – Jackson – Friday

  • There will be cocktails, dancing and late night snacks in the Brew Pub.

Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

  • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

Micah’s Mission Golf Tournament – Vicksburg – Friday

  • This event will be hosted at Clear Creek Golf Course.

Southern Spark Conference – Jackson – Friday and Saturday

  • This gathering will shine a spotlight on the impactful initiatives of the MS AI Collaborative, including the AI Agency, Educator Accelerator, and Up-skilling programs.

Sales Tax Holiday – Mississippi – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • This year, the Sales Tax Holiday will be July 12-14, 2024.

Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life.

PAW Patrol Adventure Play Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • Save the day through hands-on play at the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s summer exhibit in Jackson, PAW Patrol: Adventure Play!

Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

What Became of Dr. Smith – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • What Became of Dr. Smith, is a large-scale, panoramic narrative painting by contemporary artist Noah Saterstrom. The exhibition delves into the life of Saterstrom’s great-grandfather.

Mississippi Braves – Pearl – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The M-Braves will face Birmingham at Trustmark Park.

Vicksburg Homecoming Celebration – Vicksburg – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The event begins on Friday at the American Legion Post. The festivities continue with the Scholarship Annual Dinner-Dance Banquet, and the Farewell Worship Service is on Sunday.

Ice Cream Safari – Jackson – Saturday

  • This will be a day filled with delectable ice cream flavors served by local Celebrity Guest Scoopers. You’ll even get the chance to vote for your favorite flavor.

SERA Jackson Black Rodeo – Jackson – Saturday

  • Southeastern Rodeo Association showcases professional cowboys in events such as Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing, Ladies Steer Undecorating, Team Roping, Bull Riding and Junior Barrel Racing for kids.

Family Fun Night – Jackson – Saturday

  • There will be live music, kids’ karaoke, and a kids’ buffet at Hal & Mal’s.

First Responders Day – Jackson – Saturday

  • With themed activities and special guests from the Fire Safety House, children will learn about the importance of first responders and their role in the community!

Community Curation Day – Jackson – Saturday

  • Laura Heller, MDAH acquisitions & collections coordinator, will demonstrate how to best preserve photographs. Visitors may bring in family photographs or photographic items for advice on how to best preserve and store precious family items.

We Are the Village – Jackson – Saturday

  • Listen to clips from the 35 narratives in the Operation Shoestring “Raising Children in Central Jackson” oral history collection and participate in creative activities guided by the oral history committee. 

BTC Market – Jackson – Saturday

  • There will be local vendors, live music, and small business pop ups!

Mississippi Farmers Market – Jackson – Saturday

  • From persimmons to peaches, from bok choy to butter beans, the Mississippi Farmers Market is the one place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the state.

Mississippi ToyCon – Pearl – Saturday

  • Mississippi ToyCon will be held at the Clyde Muse Center. There will be hundreds of vendors and a cosplay contest.

Self Care Partner Workshop – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • Learn a one-hour self-care routine with your partner to help relax muscles and help with stress.

Second Saturday – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • Second Saturday is an opportunity for the community to shop downtown, listen to live music, learn from featured artists and artisans, and much more.

Summer Chef Series – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The Summer Chef Series will feature Chef Enrika Williams at the Catfish Row Museum. Enrika is a chef and owner of Fauna Foodworks, a culinary food lab that produces thoughtful, ingredient-driven, bohemian-chic cuisine.

Line Dance Party – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The Southern Cultural Heritage Center presents a Country Western Dance. Dances will be led by the Mississippi Country Western Dancers’ Association.

Ray Lum Mule Trader Film Showings – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • An event coming to the Strand Theatre in July will feature two short films about Vicksburg’s Ray Lum, a local mule trader who made a name for himself in the early 20th century.

Vicksburg Farmers’ Market – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The event will be held at the Farmers’ Market Lot on the corner of Jackson and Washington Street.

Christmas in July – Natchez – Saturday

  • The downtown merchants are always looking to get into the holiday spirit early, so them for fun, sidewalk sales, and in-store discounts.

161st Julyteenth Commemoration – Natchez – Saturday

  • The program will include a caravan that will travel to seven historic sites where re-enactors will share the history of the freedom event that occurred on July 13, 1863, when the Union Army occupied Natchez and made the Emancipation Proclamation freedom possible.

Natchez Farmers Market – Natchez – Saturday

  • Every week there will be live fresh produce, baked goods, fresh dairy, and arts and crafts all from local growers and artists.

Briarwood Market and Mixer – Jackson – Sunday

  • At the Briarwood Market and Mixer, you’ll have the chance to browse through a diverse selection of products, ranging from handmade crafts to delicious food items.

Bastille Day – Ridgeland – Sunday

  • Enjoy live music by the David Keary Trio, featuring Alley Jenkins. Reservations are highly recommended.

Grease Sing-A-Long – Laurel – Friday

  • Hey, Pink Ladies and “T” Birds, break out those poodle skirts and leather jackets and enjoy a sing-a-long to the movie Grease. Costumes are encouraged, and a prize will be awarded for the best costume.

Friyay Karaoke Night – Laurel – Friday

  • The event will be held at 320 5th St. in Laurel.

Miss Hospitality Pageant – Hattiesburg – Friday and Saturday

  • The Mississippi Miss Hospitality Competition will commemorate 75 years of serving the state’s economic development and tourism industries through a Diamond Jubilee celebration.

New Exhibit at Hattiesburg Pocket Museum – Hattiesburg – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum has a new exhibit every month, so be sure to head downtown for a small surprise!

Summer of Movies: Moana – Hattiesburg – Saturday

  • The movie rolls at sunset, so don’t forget to bring your blanket and/or chair for a comfy viewing. Also, feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages.

  • Enjoy a full day with tons of live music, door prizes, silent auction, and live auction with all proceeds going to Niko’s Music Mission.
