RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Mississippi’s Sales Tax Holiday is underway. This year, the holiday was extended from two days to three days.

Businesses across the state, including Northpark Mall in Ridgeland, are offering amazing deals and cutting their prices during the tax-free weekend.

From July 12-14, shoppers won’t have to pay sales tax on school supplies or individual items of clothing and foot apparel that costs less than $100.

“If you’re needing some back to school bling or you’re just trying to be in a treat yourself kind of mood, we have a lot of local retailers that are doing 30 to 40 to 50% off, or a buy one get one deal on top of your national brands,” said Laura Antoon, the marketing and business development manager at Northpark Mall.

Sales of eligible items that were placed or ordered by mail, telephone, or the internet are not subject to sales tax if the purchaser orders and pays for the items during the Sales Tax Holiday and the items are less than the $100 threshold.

Shipping and handling charges are not to be included as part of the sales price of eligible items in determining whether items exceed the $100 threshold.

If an eligible item was purchased during the Sales Tax Holiday and returned after the holiday for credit on the purchase of a different item, sales tax is applied to the sale of the newly purchased item.
