JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced there will be a temporary closure of the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 in Jackson.

According to MDOT, the northbound lanes of I-55 at Northside Drive will close beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 and are expected to reopen no later than 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25.

Crews will replace five guide signs on three overhead sign trusses between Northside Drive and Adkins Boulevard/Beasley Road. 

During the overnight closure period, MDOT officials said interstate traffic will be forced off at Northside Drive to detour along the frontage road. The detour will reconnect northbound traffic with I-55 just north of the signal at Adkins Boulevard/Beasley Road.

Drivers should anticipate delays during the closure period and be prepared to exit at Northside Drive. Local traffic is advised to seek an alternate route around the closure to avoid potential delays.
