JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said the estranged husband of a missing woman was killed during a shooting at a gas station.

The shooting happened at the Shell gas station on Suncrest Drive at McDowell Road on Sunday, July 21.

According to Wade, 48-year-old Derrick Coleman and 37-year-old Jasvir Singh were killed during the shooting. Singh was the owner of the Shell gas station.

The police chief said the suspects were in a Honda Accord, and the rear passenger fired the shots that killed Coleman and Signh. Four others were also injured, and their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Wade said police are analyzing the surveillance video to identify the suspects.

Coleman was the husband of Latasha Crump Coleman, who was last seen on July 18, 2023.

Crump Coleman’s family believes her husband knew something about her disappearance. There was a brawl between her family and the relatives of Coleman in December 2023.
