RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The death of a registered nurse in Mississippi came as a shock to her loved ones.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said 41-year-old Marcie Errington, of Crystal Springs, died after she was hit by a vehicle near Sunset Grill in Rankin County.

Those who worked with Errington at Pedicare Nursing Agency in Brandon said they’re heartbroken.

“We were shocked. There was a time of denial where we didn’t want to believe that that had really happened to our Marcy. When we learned, and it was confirmed that it was her, we were just heartbroken,” said Melissa Flanagin, the founder of Pedicare Nursing Agency.

Flanagin said Errington had worked at Pedicare Nursing Agency since 2019. She leaves behind three sons.

“She just kind of brightens the room. And she’s very funny, loved to make people laugh. And she is just a joy to work with. Her time here has… we will never be able to replace her. She was a very important part of our team. I would say that Marcie’s greatest joy in her life was her three boys. And she loved them so fiercely. And I know that they will miss her. But, you know, the strength and the love that she gave them, I know will last forever,” said Flanagin.

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
