Suspect wanted for starting fire at Utica gas station

UTICA, Miss. (WJTV) – A reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest in connection to an arson case in Utica.

This comes after the Pit Stop in gas station on East Main Street in Utica caught fire just before 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 21.

Assistant Fire Chief Jordan Lyons, with the Utica Volunteer Fire Department, said it took firefighters more than two hours to get the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

Utica police said gasoline was used to start the fire. Investigators found a hole in the back wall of the gas station and was doused with gas.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the arson suspect. Anyone with information can contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 601-359-1061 or 1-888-648-0877.
