Retrial for William ‘Polo’ Edwards continued

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The retrial for the man accused of killing a local community activist in 2022 has been continued.

A new trial date has not been set for William “Polo” Edwards, who was arrested and charged in connection to the death of Better Men Society founder Robert Davis.

Edwards’ second trial was set for July 29, 2024, in Hinds County Circuit Court before Judge Eleanor Faye Peterson. He was denied bond by Peterson in October 2023 after a mistrial was declared in his case.

Edwards is accused of killing Davis inside Shadow Robinson’s Clinton home on May 1, 2022.

Edwards was arrested in connection to the case after a chase in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 3, 2022. He was indicted for murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm in Hinds County. Edwards pled not guilty.

According to court documents, Edwards is currently being housed at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler, Mississippi.
