TUPELO, Miss. (WJTV) – A second person has been indicted in connection to 2003 homicide in North Mississippi.

The Daily Journal reported Niki Hester, 36, of Alabama, was indicted for first-degree murder in connection to the death of Wendy Benson, 35. Hester’s father, 62-year-old Richard Truelock, was arrested by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) in December 2023. He was charged with first-degree murder.

Lee County deputies said Benson’s mother discovered the body of her daughter inside Benson’s home on County Road 1792 on July 14, 2023. The cause of her death was ligature strangulation, according to officials.

Hester was indicted for the murder by a Lee County Grand Jury, and her bond was set at $100,000.
