JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The trial for the woman accused of killing two people in a DUI crash in Jackson last year has been delayed.

According to court documents, the assigned prosecutor and the defense counsel are not ready for the trial of Jada Kelly. The trial has been rescheduled to November 12, 2024.

The crash happened around 3:00 a.m. on January 15, 2023, at the intersection of I-55 North Frontage Road and Canton Mart Road in Jackson.

Authorities said 46-year-old Azure Higgins and 43-year-old Valerie Lynch were killed in the crash.

Kelly has been charged with aggravated DUI. Investigators said Kelly had a blood alcohol level of 0.18. The legal limit is 0.08.
