Thalia Mara Hall temporarily closed due to early stages of mold

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson has been temporarily closed after “early microbial activity” was discovered in the facility.

According to leaders with the City of Jackson, mitigation crews will remove what is believed to be the early stages of mold that was discovered following a recent malfunction with the HVAC controller in the facility.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as we work diligently to resolve the matter. The health and safety of our community is our top priority, and we are taking every step necessary to address and rectify the situation as quickly as possible,” said Melissa Faith Payne, communications director for the City of Jackson.

Thalia Mara Hall will be closed until the situation has been remedied. The city said they would provide updates on the progress of the removal and any impact on scheduled events as necessary.
