Meridian police officer charged with statutory rape

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WJTV) – A Meridian police officer has been charged with statutory rape.

The Meridian Star reported Lt. Kevin Boyd, 51, of Porterville, turned himself in to the Kemper County Sheriff’s Office. Meridian Police Chief Deborah Young said Boyd has been placed on leave.

Investigators said Boyd was booked into the Kemper County Detention Center just after 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6.
