JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A historic café that has served the Jackson-metro area for years is expected to reopen in a week.

The Mayflower Café sits on the corner of Capitol Street and Roach Street. The new owners, Hunter Evans and Cody McCain, took on the challenge a few months back. Renovations have been going on all summer, and the café is ready to serve seafood lovers across the metro.

“You know, I’ve only opened one other restaurant, but the difference in this one is that you know people have been coming here for 40 plus years. So, it’s fun to have the community super excited,” said Evans, who also co-owns Elvie’s with McCain.

Evans said the renovations are 95% complete, and they hope to open the Mayflower Café’s doors in a week’s time.
