RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – An 18-year-old was arrested on a drug charge after a chase in Rankin County, authorities said.
The incident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15. Authorities said Rankin County deputies attempted to stop a black 2024 Honda Civic on Hugh Ward Boulevard in Flowood.
Investigators said the driver, who was identified as Quang Thanh Ngo, of Brandon, failed to yield and continued northbound on the road. They said the chase ended when deputies performed a tactical vehicle intervention at the intersection of Hugh Ward Boulevard and Sea Turtle Cove.
Ngo was arrested, and a female passenger was detained. The female was later released with no charges at this time.
During a further investigation, Rankin County deputies seized multiple items, including eight THC vapes, 136 grams of THC wax, 3.3 grams of powder cocaine, 113 dosage units of Alprazolam, and one Taurus 9mm handgun.
Ngo was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

After his arrest, investigators said they discovered Ngo was currently out on bond through the Rankin County Court for felony possession of marijuana and that he fled from Flowood police days earlier in a stolen Dodge Charger Hellcat. Investigators said the vehicle was reported stolen out of Houston, Texas, three days prior to the incident in Flowood. The Dodge Charger was later recovered in Madison.
Investigators said additional charges and arrests are possible in this case. Ngo is scheduled to appear in court at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20.
