LEFLORE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Two people were injured during a shooting on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU).

The shooting occurred in the student union parking lot around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 18.

MVSU officials said neither of the individuals involved were students at the university. They both received medical attention, and authorities are investigating the shooting.

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. The university is fully cooperating with law enforcement and the campus police department as they investigate. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact Campus Police at 662-254-3478,” MVSU officials said.

Counseling services are available for those who may be affected by the shooting.
