JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said a man died days after he was assaulted.

The incident occurred in the 300 block of Northside Drive on Tuesday, August 20. Detective Tommie Brown said the victim, Dennis Watson, was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in critical condition.

Brown said the suspect, Jeremy Ware, 35, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault.

According to police, Watson died from his injuries on Monday, August 26. Brown said the charge against Ware was upgraded to capital murder.
