JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are searching for a man who allegedly killed his mother.

Detective Tommie Brown said police received a call about the incident shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4.

When officers arrived at the scene in the 900 block of Carver Street, they discovered the victim, 63-year-old Louise Banks Tornes, had been assaulted. Brown said Tornes died from blunt force trauma.

Police are searching for Tornes’ son, 42-year-old Jerry Banks, in connection to the homicide. They said he attempted to assault other family members and fled the scene before officers arrived.
