JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Leaders with the Jackson Public School District (JPS) said two people were arrested at Provine High School.
According to officials with the district, the high school was placed on temporary lockdown on Monday, September 9, following reports of intruders on campus.
JPS Campus Enforcement and local law enforcement agencies responded to the situation. Officials said at least two individuals were taken into custody.
“We would like to clarify that reports on social media of weapons on campus and a security officer being stabbed are false. The safety of our scholars and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate the prompt response from all involved,” said Sherwin Johnson, executive director of Public Engagement at JPS.
