JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – As Francine moves across Mississippi, some Mississippi schools will be closed this week.

Closures/Early Dismissals:

  • Adams County Christian School – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Alcorn State University – Early Dismissals on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • The Lorman, Vicksburg, and Natchez campus will close at 12:00 p.m. on Sept. 11. The University will resume normal in-person operations on Sept. 12 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Ambition Preparatory Charter School – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Amite County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Belhaven University – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Brandon Methodist Kindergarten – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Brookhaven School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Canton Public Schools – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Cathedral School – Virtual Instruction on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Clinton Public School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Columbia School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Covington County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • East Central Community College – Virtual Learning on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • The Education Center School – Delayed Start on Thursday, Sept. 12
    • The school will open at 9:30 a.m. and start classes at 10:00 a.m.
  • Forrest County Agricultural High School – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Forrest County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • George County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Greene County School District – Early Dismissal on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • All schools will release around 12:45 p.m.
  • Greene County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Hattiesburg Public Schools – Delayed Start on Thursday, Sept. 12
    • Burger Middle School, STEAM Academy, and Lillie Burney – 9:00 a.m.
    • All Elementary School –  9:30 a.m.
    • Hattiesburg High – 10:00 a.m.
  • Hinds Community College – Virtual Instruction on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Hinds County Human Resource Center Head Start and Early Head Start Centers – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Hinds County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Jackson Public School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Jones County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Lamar Christian School – Early Dismissal on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • Lamar Christian School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. 
  • Lamar County School District – Early Dismissals on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • Lamar County Schools will have a 60% day on Wednesday. Individual schools will send their release times for Wednesday.
  • Lamar County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Laurel School District – Early Dismissals on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • Nora Davs: 11:45 a.m.
    • Oak Park: 11:55 a.m.
    • Laurel Magnet: 12:05 p.m.

    • Susie B. West Gilmer McLaurin – 12:30 p.m.

    • Natchez Early College – 1:05 p.m.
    • Natchez Middle, Natchez High and Natchez Options – 1:30 p.m.
  • Natchez-Adams School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Park Place Christian Academy – Delayed Start on Thursday, Sept. 12
    • The school will have a two-hour delay on Thursday. PPCA will open campus at 9:15 a.m. and school will begin at 10 a.m.
  • Pearl Public School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Pearl River County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Perry County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Petal School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Picayune School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Poplarville School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Rankin County Schools – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • The Redeemer’s School – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Richton School District – Early Dismissals on Wednesday, Sept. 11
    • Schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
  • Sacred Heart Catholic School – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Simpson County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Smith County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • South Pike School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • SR1 College Preparatory & STEM Academy – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • St. Andrew’s Episcopal School – Delayed Start on Thursday, Sept. 12
    • Both the Jackson and Ridgeland campuses will open and carpool will begin at 9:30 a.m. Classes will begin at 10:00 a.m.
  • University of Southern Mississippi – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • University of Southern Mississippi – Delayed Start on Thursday, Sept. 12
    • The University of Southern Mississippi will delay opening until noon on Thursday across all locations in Hattiesburg and along the Gulf Coast.
  • Walthall County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Wayne Academy – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Wayne County School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • West Jasper School District – Closed on Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Wilkinson County School District – Closed on Wednesday, Sept. 11
