Which Mississippi shelters are open ahead of Francine?

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – As Hurricane Francine approaches Mississippi, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) announced several shelters and safe rooms have opened for residents.

Shelters

Copiah County

  • Copiah County Safe Room – 1060 Epps Ln, Hazlehurst, MS 39083 (opening at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th)

Hancock County

  • Kiln Safe Room – 18324 Hwy 43, Kiln, MS (opening at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10th)

Harrison County

  • County Farm Road Shelter – 15038 County Farm Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503 – (opening at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th)
    • Lyman Senior Center (Pet Accommodations) – 14592 County Farm Road, Gulfport, MS 39503 (all pets must remain in a carrier/kennel. Owners are responsible for providing food, medications and care for pets)
  • D’Iberville High School – 15625 Lamey Bridge Road, Biloxi, MS 39532 – (opening at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th)
  • Lobouy Road Shelter – 9505 Lobouy Rd, Pass Christian, MS 39571 – (opening at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th)

Jackson County

  • Jackson County Shelter – 5500 Ballpark Rd, Vancleave, MS. (opening at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th)

Pearl River County

  • Picayune Community Saferoom – 501 Laurel Street (opening at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10th) Pets are not allowed. Please bring anything you may need (Food, water, etc.)
  • Poplarville Community Saferoom – 124 Rodeo Street (opening at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10th) 

Pike County

  • Pike County Saferoom – 2017 Quinlivan Rd. Magnolia Ms. 39652 (opening at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11th) 

Hinds County

  • Hinds County Temporary Shelter – Jackson Polic Department Training Academy – 3000 St. Charles St. (opening at noon Wednesday, September 11th)
