OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (WJTV) – Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in North Mississippi.
Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said the shooting occurred on Monday, September 16 when officers with the Olive Branch SWAT Team attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a home on Railroad Avenue.
According to Martin, the suspect pointed a weapon at the officers, and the officers fired shots at the suspect. The suspect received fatal injuries, and the officer involved did not receive any serious physical injuries.
MBI agents will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
