JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police responded to a local high school after a fight among students.
The fight occurred at Callaway High School on Tuesday, September 24.
Officials with the Jackson Public School District (JPS) said after the fight occurred, there were false reports online about a gun being on campus. Jackson police and JPS Campus Enforcement responded and confirmed that no gun was found.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said up to 10 students were involved in the fight.
“All of the individuals involved in this particular incident have been detained by the Jackson Public Schools Campus Enforcement,” he said.
JPS officials said all parents were notified about the incident.
“The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. Despite the disruption, normal classroom instruction has resumed without further incident,” JPS officials stated.
