LAWRENCE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man who was reported missing in Lawrence County has been found deceased.

Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said the remains of Gregory Varnado were located on September 1, 2024. He was identified through DNA comparison and analysis.

According to Everett, the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the remains were those of Varnado on Tuesday, September 24. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Varnado’s cause of death and manner of death to be undetermined at this time.

Varnado had been missing since August 15, and a Silver Alert was issued for him.
