Ridgeland officer extricated from car after crash

RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – A Ridgeland police officer had to be extricated from a vehicle after a crash.

The crash occurred on Interstate 220 North at Interstate 55 around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said the officer’s car was hit from behind by a pickup truck. During the crash, the pickup truck overturned.

The officer and the driver of the pickup truck were both transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson. The officer is expected to be okay.

According to Myers, the driver of the pickup truck had no license and no insurance. He said the driver could face a DUI charge. The crash is under investigation.
