RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Safety improvements will be made to U.S. 49 in Rankin County.

According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT), there will be alternating lane closures beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1. The closures will take place until work is complete on June 20, 2025.

Officials said both directions of U.S. 49 between Muse Road and RT Brady Road/Dixie Road will be affected.

Drivers are advised to slow down, stay alert for work crews and anticipate alternating lane closures.
