JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (October 4-6) around Mississippi.

Central Mississippi

Food Truck Friday – Jackson – Friday

  • The multi-vendor event celebrates Jackson’s food truck cuisine and culture!

Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Friday

  • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream!

Before it Hits Home – Jackson – Friday

  • “Before It Hits Home” takes audiences through the last few months in the life of saxophonist, Wendal Bailey who is caught in between two worlds: one which revolves around his lovers, the other based in the home of his family.

Sturgill Simpson – Brandon – Friday

  • Sturgill Simpson will perform at the Brandon Amphitheater.

Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

  • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

A Gallery Reading – Natchez – Friday

  • You’ll have the opportunity to connect with your angels, guides, loved ones, and higher selves. Tarot readings will also be available.

Live at Five – Natchez – Friday

  • Live at Five is a free, family-friendly, outdoor concert series held at the Bandstand on the Natchez Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

Breast Cancer Golf Tournament – Vicksburg – Friday

  • This event is a four-person scramble. Come for a day of good swings for an amazing cause.

Inaugural Purple Parade Walk – Vicksburg – Friday

  • This event will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Belmont St. There will be a concluding event, and balloon release at Washington Street Park.

Alcorn Alumni Block Party & Pop-Up Shop – Vicksburg – Friday

  • This event will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gordon’s Alley.

Fright Night Movie at Southern Cultural Heritage Center – Vicksburg – Friday

  • The selected movie is “The Nun.” Come enjoy a spooky night at the movies at the SCHF. 

Portals. A Theme Show – Vicksburg – Friday

  • It’s time to celebrate The Attic Gallery’s 53rd year in business in downtown Vicksburg. Several different artists have been invited to participate in a theme show.

The Bistro of Vicksburg Talent Show – Vicksburg – Friday

  • Come show off your skills, connect with other local artists, and make it a night to remember.

Pumpkin Adventure – Jackson – Friday and Saturday

  • The Museum’s Pumpkin Adventure will include a hayride around the museum grounds and Small Town, Miss., a complimentary snack of cookies and milk, a self-guided tour of the Heritage Center Gallery; a visit to the farm animals located inside the Children’s Barnyard, a corn pit to play in, a straw maze and a small pumpkin of choice to take home.

17th Annual Renaissance Euro Fest – Ridgeland – Friday and Saturday

  • The great automobiles and motorcycles of Europe come to Ridgeland each fall. Browse along the picturesque old-world style streets of Renaissance at Colony Park.

6th Annual Bikers Weekend on the Bluff – Natchez – Friday and Saturday

  • This two day event features a bikers parade, meet & greets, after parties, and a reenactment of the Original Buffalo Soldiers.

Mississippi State Fair – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • One of the South’s largest fairs, with rides, entertainment, and competitions. Fairgoers can experience the excitement of carnival rides, indulge in delicious treats, and enjoy live entertainment.

Sanderson Farms Championship – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • Golf enthusiasts can watch world-class athletes compete on challenging courses.

Display of Creepy Dolls – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The free monthlong display features six dolls from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century and provides an eerie glimpse into children’s playthings from the past.

Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life.

Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

Atomic Age Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The exhibition explores the history of the Federal Civil Defense Administration established to prepare Americans for the perils of the new Atomic Age.

  • The 5K run and the 5K walk will be at Vicksburg Catholic School Stadium. There will also be a 1 mile fun run. Costumes are encouraged but not needed. Afterward, there will be a carnival for kids, food, music, and awards.
