RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Pearl man pled guilty to aggravated domestic violence.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett said Matthew Dillon Tate, 27, was sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), with 10 years suspended. Following his release, he will have five years of supervised probation by MDOC and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

On February 5, 2024, Pearl police responded to a welfare check at a home shared by Tate and the victim. When officers arrived, they noticed the victim had significant injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and Tate was arrested for aggravated domestic violence.

“Our office takes domestic violence cases extremely seriously, and we appreciate the hard work of the Pearl Police Department who helped our office ensure justice was served in this case,” said Bramlett. “We encourage all community members to recognize the signs of domestic violence. If you see something, say something because that may be some individuals’ only voice in these situations.”
