RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A stolen vehicle was found submerged in the Barnett Reservoir.
Rankin County investigators said they responded to a boat ramp next to an unpaved section of Lake Harbor Road, which is owned by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRVWSD), on Thursday, October 24.
According to authorities, the submerged vehicle was discovered by Reservoir police. Divers from the Reservoir Fire Department were able to locate a black 2008 Ford Mustang submerged in 15 feet of water about 50 yards away from the roadway.
Investigators said the vehicle was reported stolen to Richland police in 2009.
The vehicle was recovered from the reservoir and taken to a secure location. Rankin County deputies said they will assist Reservoir and Richland police with the ongoing investigation.
