JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The mother of the young man who was stabbed to death inside a Jackson McDonald’s said her son had a bright future ahead of him.

The incident occurred at the McDonald’s on Northside Drive on Sunday, October 13.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said a woman, who was identified as 22-year-old Destiny Gibson, stabbed 22-year-old Christopher Borras with a large knife during an altercation. She was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder.

“He was having his lunch. He wasn’t messing with anyone. He was just having his lunch. He doesn’t know her. There is no reason,” said Borras’ mother, Rosa LeBron.

She said her son had moved to Mississippi from Miami, Florida, eight months ago, hoping to work for a better future. LeBron said Borras and his brother were working to build a successful construction business in Jackson. Now, she hopes to take her son back to Florida to lay him to rest.

“He was a character. He loved to make people laugh. He made a lot of friends. He was a good boy. It’s horrible. She turned off his light. He had a bright future ahead of him. It’s.. I don’t have any words. It’s the most horrible feeling. I still feel like he’s going to walk up the driveway at any second. I don’t have words. It’s very difficult, especially financially. We still haven’t figured out how we’re going to get him back home. He’s waiting to rest,” LeBron said.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
