HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – A Hattiesburg High School student was injured after being hit by a car while crossing the street, police said.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Hardy Street and Hutchinson Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28.

Officers said a driver made a left turn at the traffic light and did not see the individual, who was a 17-year-old student, crossing the street. The teenager suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

According to police, the driver remained on the scene until officers arrived to provide a statement. The investigation is ongoing.
