JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The executive director of the Jackson/Hinds Library System (JHLS) has resigned.
Floyd Council assumed the role of executive director in March 2022 after a career of library service across the country.
Mr. Council took over leadership of the library system at an incredibly challenging time wherein the library system faced significant facilities challenges and funding cuts.
Today, the library system has made great strides towards reestablishing a firm foundation, and it is poised to launch a new five-year strategic plan for ushering in thriving, vibrant library service for Jackson and Hinds County. Mr. Council leaves JHLS in a much better position than he found it. We are grateful for his hard work, and we wish him the best on his future endeavors.
