RICHLAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Richland police announced three Florida men were arrested after authorities intercepted more than $115,000 in fraudulent checks.

Investigators said members of the Pearl-Richland PACE Team intercepted the fraudulent checks on October 29. The checks had been forged with fake signatures.

A detective later initiated a traffic stop on Highway 49 for a traffic violation, involving a vehicle occupied by three men. Police said a search of the vehicle revealed 20 fraudulent checks worth more than $115,000, $3,500 in U.S. currency and marijuana.

Detectives said the suspects were traveling from Florida to Texas, attempting to cash the checks along the way.

Police arrested Raymond Varona Garcia, 20; Darian Jesus Caceres, 24; and Jahiron Boloy Valdes, 26. They were charged with felony possession of counterfeit instruments, including checks.

Investigators said detectives have been in contact with all five victims, located in Ohio, Texas and Florida. They said one victim had previously been targeted by the suspects, suffering a loss of $29,000.
