JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (November 8-10) around Mississippi.

Central Mississippi

Veterans Day Ceremony – Jackson – Friday

  • The program will include a performance by the 41st Army Band, a moment of silence, and the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard recognizing the veterans in attendance and fallen heroes.

Holiday Happy Hour – Jackson – Friday

  • Operation Shoestring invites its supporters, friends, volunteers and families to celebrate the holiday season.

Holiday Mingle & Jingle – Jackson – Friday

  • Kick off the holidays at The Rookery for an exclusive Mingle & Jingle party.

Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Friday

  • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream.

Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday

  • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

Atomic Age Exhibit – Jackson – Friday

  • The exhibition explores the history of the Federal Civil Defense Administration established to prepare Americans for the perils of the new Atomic Age.

Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

  • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

Live at Five – Natchez – Friday

  • Live at Five is a free, family-friendly, outdoor concert series held at the Bandstand on the Natchez Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

Harvest Fest – Jackson – Friday and Saturday

  • Live demonstrations throughout the museum grounds will give visitors a glimpse of Mississippi’s past and show the impact agriculture has made on our lives.

Mistletoe Marketplace – Jackson – Friday and Saturday

  • Mistletoe Marketplace is a holiday tradition presented by the Junior League of Jackson. Since the first Mistletoe Marketplace in 1981, the event has become the South’s premier holiday shopping affair featuring spectacular special events.

Angels on the Bluff Cemetery Tour – Natchez – Friday and Saturday

  • The Natchez City Cemetery, one of the oldest burial grounds in the country, hosts the Angels on the Bluff event each November, featuring iconic Natchez personalities buried within the cemetery, portrayed by their descendants and other local citizens in period costumes.

Millsaps Players – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The Millsaps Players open their 101st season with Picnic by William Inge.

Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • Step into the mysterious world of Glenfield, a 200-year-old former plantation home shrouded in both history and the supernatural.

Jackson State University vs. MVSU – Jackson – Saturday

  • Jackson State will face MVSU at The Vet.

Belhaven University vs. LaGrange – Jackson – Saturday

  • Belhaven will face LaGrange at Belhaven University Bowl Stadium.

Wild Wonders Painting Natural MS Class – Jackson – Saturday

  • Spend time with the Museum’s bear collection and work on painting their wooded habitat at MDWFP’s Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson.

NaNoWriMo – Jackson – Saturday

  • Join the historic Eudora Welty House & Garden every Saturday afternoon this November for a cozy, inspiring writing space as part of National Novel Writing Month.

Mississippi Farmers Market – Jackson – Saturday

  • From persimmons to peaches, from bok choy to butter beans, the Mississippi Farmers Market is the one place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the state.

Holiday Market – Clinton – Saturday

  • This festive open-air market takes place on the historic brick streets of Olde Towne Clinton. The market features handcrafted goods, fine art, local craftsmen, entertainment, and a variety of food options from downtown restaurants and food vendors.

Stained Glass Class with Andrea Hopper – Ridgeland – Saturday

  • Learn how to design and craft your own colorful masterpiece using the copper-foil method of stained glass assembly!

Second Saturday – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • Second Saturday is an opportunity for the community to shop downtown, listen to live music, learn from featured artists and artisans, and much more.

Ladies Fall Gathering – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • This event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church.

Gibson Memorial U.M.C. Annual Fall Bazaar & Spaghetti Lunch – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The bazaar is from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and the lunch is from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Self Care Saturday – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • This event will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Glowe Apothecary.

Country Western Dance Party – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The Southern Cultural Heritage Center presents a Country Western Dance. Dances will be led by the Mississippi Country Western Dancers’ Association.

Annual Rotary Chili Cookoff – Natchez – Saturday

  • Tasting kits are $10.00 and proceeds benefit Natchez Children’s Services. There will be beer, soft drinks, funnel cakes, and root beer floats for purchase.

Freedom Trail Marker Unveiling – Natchez – Saturday

  • A Mississippi Freedom Trail marker honoring the Natchez Deacons for Defense and Justice will be unveiled.

24-Hour Veterans Memorial Wall Vigil – Hattiesburg – Sunday

  • Each year, USM’s Air Force ROTC Honor Guard conducts a 24-hour vigil at Veterans Memorial Park to honor the legacy of Hattiesburg residents that have served and honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the endeavor of keeping our country safe.

The Music of John Rutter – Hattiesburg – Sunday
