JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A woman, who was wanted for murder in Virginia, was captured in Mississippi.
Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service said Akea Faison, 33, was arrested in Jackson on Tuesday, November 12 after 20 months on the run. She was wanted for two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Authorities said Faison was involved in a robbery on Dale Drive in Portsmouth, Virginia, on March 5, 2023. Two men were shot and killed during the incident.
Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service said investigators developed information that Faison was in Jackson and employed under an assumed identity. They established surveillance on a business in the 100 block of West Northside Drive and spotted Faison working there. She was arrested without incident.
Faison is being held at the Madison County Detention Center and is awaiting extradition to Virginia for her initial court appearance.
