Jackson man charged with felony child abuse

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police arrested a man after a child was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said police responded to the call about an unresponsive child on Thursday, November 21.

According to Martin, the child was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in critical condition.

Capitol police arrested Jarvis Stewart, 20, of Jackson, for felony child abuse in connection to the incident. He is being held at the Hinds County Detention Center.
