Fight between Oak Grove High students involving knife causes lockdown

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Law enforcement agencies responded to a fight between students that involved a knife at a Lamar County high school.

The incident occurred at Oak Grove High School on Wednesday, December 4.

Lamar County Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven Hampton said there was an altercation between two students in a restroom that involved a knife. The school was placed on lockdown until the situation was resolved.

According to the superintendent, one student was transported to the hospital and another student was detained by law enforcement.

Hampton said an investigation will be conducted by school administrators and authorities.

The high school has returned to normal operations.
