JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Jones County deputies said four students were transported to a hospital after a school bus crash.
The crash occurred just after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5 in the 100 block of Kitchens Loops off of Augusta Road near Ellisville.
Investigators said 10 students, ranging in age from 12-17, and the bus driver were on the school bus at the time of the crash.
Four students were transported to South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) in Laurel. They are believed to have non-life threatening injuries. The other six students and school bus driver were medically evaluated at the scene.

The Jones County School District arranged for transportation from the scene for those students not transported by ambulance.
“The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We are thankful for the agencies who responded to this crash and for their work at the scene to facilitate rescue and vehicle recovery operations,” said Jones County Patrol Division Captain JD Carter.
