MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The death of a Mississippi married couple is believed to be the result of a murder-suicide, Tunica County Sheriff Deputies announced.
On Sunday at approximately 4:43 p.m., the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a relative and friend requesting medical assistance at a residence in the 1000 block of Jacks Avenue.
Sheriff Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered two victims each with a single gunshot wound. The two were found unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by a Tunica County Deputy Coroner.
The victims were a husband and wife and later identified as 52-year-old Lonnie Nelson Jr. and 53-year-old Vickie Lane Nelson.
Deputies said that there were two firearms recovered from the scene and they’d be sent to the Crime Lab for Forensic Testing.
Investigators are in the preliminary stages of their investigation and said that the evidence is pointing toward an “unofficial homicide murder-suicide.”
