VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A woman died during a house fire in Vicksburg.

The fire occurred in the 700 block of Mattingly Street just after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said when crews arrived at the scene, they saw flames and smoke coming from the home.

According to Stamps, the fire was extinguished, and firefighters found the 31-year-old victim in a bathtub. She was identified as Shiquira Maniel. A second person was able to get out of the home safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
