JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Entergy Mississippi announced crews have restored power to nearly 75% of the more than 45,000 customers who were left without power after major storms moved through the state on Saturday, December 28.
Officials with the company expect the majority of the 11,400 customers who remain without power will be restored by Tuesday night. They said the times may change as damage assessment continues, and crews evaluate the equipment and resources needed to make repairs.
More than 1,300 employees and contract partners are engaged in the restoration effort. As restoration is completed in one area, crews will be redirected to support restoration underway in other areas. Customers can find updates to their estimated restoration times on Entergy’s View Outage map.
Damage assessment to Entergy Mississippi’s distribution system is 88% complete. Crews have identified 164 destroyed poles and more than 43 miles of downed wire, among other damaged equipment. Assessment of the company’s transmission system is complete and work is underway to repair the damages, including returning to service five transmission lines that were affected by the storm.
