WASHINGTON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is investigating after a pedestrian was killed during a hit-and-run.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 30 around 12:01 a.m. on U.S. Highway 82 West near Leland.

According to MHP, an unknown vehicle was traveling west on the highway when it collided with Janeshia Oneal, 30. She received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Troopers said the vehicle that left the scene may be a black sedan with recent damage to the front passenger side.
