NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was killed and another was injured during a shootout in Natchez, police said.

The Natchez Democrat reported the shooting occurred on Dumas Drive before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1.

Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said the initial investigation showed that the two victims had been shooting at each other.

Adams County Coroner James Lee identified the deceased victim as Jalen Griffin, 21. The injured victim has not been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
