LIST: Warming shelters open across Mississippi this week

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Due to the dangerously low temperatures expected in Mississippi this week, several warming shelters have opened across the state.

Alcorn County Warming Shelter 

  • Blue Building At Kossuth – 7 CR 604, Corinth, MS (opens Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.)

Harrison County Warming Shelters 

  • D’Iberville – Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Center – 10395 Automall Parkway, D’Iberville (opens January 6, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.)
  • Gulfport – Salvation Army Center of Hope – 2019 22nd Street, Gulfport (opens January 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.)

Hinds County Warming Shelter

  • City of Jackson – Shepard’s Gym – 1355 Hattiesburg Street, Jackson, MS, 39204
  • City of Jackson – Stewpot Opportunity Center – 845 W Amite St, Jackson, MS 39203
  • Salvation Army – Center of Hope – 110 Presto Lane, Jackson, MS 39206

Jones County Warming Shelter

  • Salvation Army – 129 N 13th Ave, Laurel, MS (Opens when temps reach 32 degrees)

Jasper County Warming Shelter 

  • Jasper County Community Center – 124 Edmund King Rd, Bay Springs, MS 39422 (opens January 6, 2025, all day and all night **will be reassessed January 10, 2025)

Lauderdale County Warming Shelter

  • 2900 St. Paul Drive, Meridian, MS (opens January 6, 2025, will be open from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. daily until January 10, 2025)

Wayne County Warming Station

  • Courtroom at the Sheriff’s Department – 613 Court Street, Waynesboro, MS 39367

Yazoo County Warming Shelter

  • L.T. Miller Center – 930 Lamar Avenue, Yazoo City, MS 39194 (open 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily until no longer needed)
